Quinn’s Nursery

Before learning the gender, I was convinced we were having a girl, so I designed the most elegant, classy Disney princess nursery, in my head.

When Quinn was loud and proud during his anatomy scan, I had to start fresh. One day while browsing the gift shop at work, I found the cutest stuffed elephant and immediately started thinking safari theme!

My vision was more natural versus cartoon-looking, so I turned to Pinterest first to see if anyone had already brought the idea to life. Of course, someone did! That is when I came across the idea of doing framed, realistic animal prints.

While browsing on Amazon, I found the perfect ones. These particular prints are no longer available on Amazon, but HERE are some that are fairly similar. They come just the print, no frame. I purchased these frames from Michael’s.

These pictures were also great practice for Quinn to start learning about his animals. As he got older, I would start to ask him to point to each animal as I named them off. He’s a pro now!

When I was perusing around Michael’s one day, as I often used to, I found the perfect shelves! I loved their design and they offered some character. Plus, they were buy one get one free. My initial intent was to use them for books in Quinn’s room.

The book idea was nixed as soon as I started to come across some cute decor at Hobby Lobby. The vases, artificial plants, giraffe picture, and the elephant figurine are all from Hobby Lobby. I also chose to do the staggered shelves to give some more dimension to the room.

Gino the giraffe was a gift from some close friends. Quinn is always asking to “wide” him now. Gino has strong legs, but zero balance when ridden. He does make the room look complete though. If you happen to need a 4-foot stuffed giraffe, you can find it HERE.

A couple of months before Quinn was due, Toys-R-Us was going out of business. It was impeccable timing for us. We were able to get his crib, dresser, and changing topper for over half off! The furniture is Oxford Baby and is high quality and sturdy and his crib will transition to a full-size bed. They had a few of this particular dresser left, but only had one matching crib available and I snagged it!

Looking back, I wish I had shopped more of the sale. Oh well.

Designing and decorating Quinn’s room was a blast and I’m still in awe of how it came together. I’ve never designed a theme room from scratch and loved bringing my ideas to life.

I’ll be sad when he wants to change it, but I’m not going to bring the idea up to him anytime soon…

Gino says take care!
